FIVE STAR FS8088 Ionic Air Purifier Pro Ionizer Cleaner with UV, new

I originally thought that this was going to be as powerful as the tower fan I purchased recently. However, that was not the case. Not saying it's bad, but it was a little smaller than I had expected. I mean for 50 bucks I hoped it would be at least 2 feet tall. its more around 18-20 inches. I smoke in my room, and this does a great job of taking the smoke away from my Play Station and other things that I wouldn't want to get resin inside. It also does a great job of taking the dust out of the air, as well as the cat hair. I've had it for a few weeks now, and I don't have any complaints. It is actually quieter than my PS3 so it doesn't bother me. Its a great thing to have in the room. I wouldn't buy another one for the same price just because of the size, but it is definitely worth getting at least one. I have a slightly larger room than this was intended for but it's great. I'll keep this review updated if anything changes.

I bought one of these air cleaners for my living room, and then for my bedroom. I'm getting another one soon for my son, who has asthma. I shopped around and I found this product to be the best selection price-wise, and taking little space it has the same or greater capability than its competitors. And the other similar products available are -- sorry, but it's true -- pretty ugly. The sleek appearance and pleasant blue nightlight (which can be disengaged) make this product the obvious winner of the "beauty contest." I have found that in placing one near my bedroom window, I have seen less dust settling on surfaces -- the junk that is always flying around on the street side of my residence. It's easy to clean so I don't feel like putting off the chore. And it runs so quietly, I don't even notice it. This product is the all-around best choice, name-brands be darned. I recommend it highly to everybody who lives in the city! It's a great little creature-comfort! I used to think these things were a luxury, but now I wouldn't be without it.

Well now it is the 7th of march and i had to clean it again, or at least i felt it needed it cause it was brownish black again, now how long or how much dirt it can hold before needing cleaned i am not sure but it said in directions it said monthly cleaning, we smoke so i am always worried about the quality of air, i seem to worry less now that i have Five Star in my home, Think about purchasing another one for the back room and one for the computer room! Amazing! Purchased this for my daughters room to help with her allergies. After about a week - no more coughing while she was sleeping!!! The ONLY reason it gets a 4 instead of 5 is the output. It does't put out much air at all. But if you have patience and are willing to wait for it to actually work, it's quite seriously a life changer. I never would have thought it would have made such a huge difference. I definitely recommend - maybe go a size larger, if they have it, but it works. The air smells cleaner, feels cleaner, and overall has helped my daughter sleep, and be more energetic in the morning.**This is for SMALL rooms. Don't expect it to do your entire house. My daughters room is 14'x16', and is able to keep up, but took about a week to get it 'clean'.

I had three the larger version of this unit I got from Sharper Image about 12 years ago, they finally wore out so I have been replacing them with smaller units since I have a smaller place now. This unit is only about 18" high but seems to have some decent air circulation. My Sharper Image unit was about 30" high and was designed to clean the air of a 150 sq. ft. room. This one I dare say would do the same job on an 80-100 square foot room (my 12X18 living room is 216 sq. ft.). Maybe once it gets the existing air clean it won't need to work so hard, but I see the need for my having to buy 2 or 3 more for my whole 900 sq. ft. apartment.

We took a chance and purchased this unit. Our oldest son has severe, sensitive allergies and is miserable most of the time. We have three large dogs inside and my husband also smokes. Within an hour of plugging the unit in in our living room, the cigarette smoke was hardly noticeable and the air felt much lighter. I am going to move it to our bedroom and purchase another one of these for our children's bedrooms. We ordered a larger Honeywell Purifier for our livingroom. Overall, we are very happy with this product so far. The blue nightlight is handy too.
