SMALL Clip
I got two of these little fans to put on the back end of my computer desk, which is about 2' thick, and positioned in right in front of the window (I live in a veyr old 1924 building, so there is no A/C!) to bring in some of that fresh ocean air into my studio apartment. It makes "fan noise" and nothing too loud. You might notice the sound if you're looking for it, but it's nothing distracting, or annoying. This little thing is pretty powerful for it's size. I get hot very easily (have had people tell me I must be half penguin) and this desk fan kept me very cool. HOWEVER... the clip is incredibly small. As soon as I took it out of the packaging I noticed it would not be fitting on the edge of desk. I've somehow managed to postion it in between my desk, the window ledge, and the window. It's fallen a few times because it has nothing to hold onto (they really need to let us know how big an edge this will or will not grab onto). Aside from that, and the reason for the 3stars instead of 4 is that the on/off is very hard to get it to switch. It's on the veeeery back of the fan and it you really have to push it hard to one side (or the other) to get it to turn on/off. Decent fan for the price, but honestly, I wish I would have looked a little harder for a better fan.**EDIT: 2 months later! Added 2 stars, making this a 5 star instead of a 3 star review. Well, thanks to these small and silent little fans, I have avoided melting this summer. I didn't get the clip to work, BUT I found a way to trap it between the window and the desk. It's been that way for almost 2 months now, and it's on almost constantly. It hasn't given me any issues/problems and it's lasting! We'll see how long it does last though! :)

Nice Desk Oscillating Fan - Whisper Quiet
I don't always take the time to write reviews but as there were a number of negative comments, I wanted to share my positive experience with this item.Granted I have only had this fan for a few days but I found that it worked properly, right out of the box. It has been running for approximately 12 hours a day without a hitch. I've been running it on the low setting, with the oscillating feature as well, and I find it to be "whisper quiet". It certainly has a "no-nonsense" strong clip to bear the weight of this heavier little fan. I need to use two hands to squeeze the clip. I deducted one star for the coiled cord (not sure why the manufacturer opted for a coiled cord) and because it arrived with the supporting arm off-center. As I needed it to be centered, I had to take it apart from the clip (a slightly tricky endeavor and would warn anyone that might do the same to be very careful because there are two tiny springs and two tiny ball bearings that pop out when the main center screw is loosened. If you attempt this, be ready to catch the tiny pieces.) Other than that, I have had no other problems with it so far. I am quite impressed with this fan (and the fact that it is one of the only small oscillating fans available) that I have already placed an order for a second unit. I am hoping that the second one I have ordered arrives just as trouble-free.If, over time, I experience any problems, I will be sure to update my review.

Good fan, but adjustable head and controls not good.
I was replacing a great little, highly adjustable fan. After it died, I bought this one. As other reviewers have stated, it only functions on oscillation if the griper is in the horizontal position as shown in the sales pictures. It will NOT work when clipped in a vertical position; just clicks endlessly. The griper spring is incredibly strong. I expect it would hold sides of a ruptured submarine hull closed at 20,000 feet. I can barely open it, but it might be good in worktable areas. If in a vertical position, the fan head is not adjustable for my needs. I bought this specifically to get the variable head positioning as I had on my old fan. The on/off button is also very small and you must visualize it to turn fan off or on. So, if you are attaching a fan in a vertical position and you want the oscillation, this is not your fan. If you want a highly adjustable head position with easy off and on, this is not your fan. Otherwise, it might be just fine.

BUYER BEWARE
I should have known better seeing as there were a LOT of negative reviews, but it fit exactly what I was looking for, so I thought maybe I'd be one of the lucky few that managed a decent version. It looked like I had been shipped a previously returned item. The product box was a disaster, and sloppily re-taped. The bags that held the fan and the cord, etc. inside where ripped. I remained positive and set up the fan. The clip does work fabulous as mentioned, but the turning radius of the fan for positioning is very limited in my opinion. Then, when I went to turn the fan on - the button flew off it two pieces and a spring flew out. It does make horrible clicking noises on the extreme edges of its oscillation path, but luckily my boyfriend keeps it stationary. We have yet to return it because my boyfriend would have a miserable time being without a fan and needs a replacement first, but I can't wait to send that thing back!!
