KWorld KW-PCTV-1600 VGA PC to TV Converter

This converter works well with my Mac Pro and an elderly Philips 13" TV/clock radio that's been sitting in the corner of my living room. I wanted to try out a VGA->composite adapter with the TV after my projector died, as the projector was our only means of watching DVDs and netflix videos.I discounted complaints that this unit was not HDTV quality, as composite video or s-video out will, at best, give you quality between VHS and DVD. The unit delivers a picture of this quality.One difficulty I had was that my USB hub did not provide enough power to the unit, as the unit is powered by a USB cable that you can plug into a computer. It still "worked", but the image flickered once a second, with a quiet "click" coming from the video screen. I thought this was a problem with the unit (perhaps it was not quite lining up the TV scan rate with the computer scan rate). Eventually I tried plugging the USB cable into a USB charger, rather than my USB hub, and then it worked just fine.

This is a really great converter box. I used it when I was working as a club dj to play videos up on the big televisions at the club. I have used it to project my computer screen on to my tv at home also. It has a vga port to connect your computer to it, and you can do a regular video cable or s-video out to whatever tv you are connecting to. I've tried a lot of these kinds of converters and this is by far the best, no question. It's an oldie but a very goodie. I bought 3 or 4 of them over the years, they last at least 3 years, and they can take a lot of abuse, trust me lol.

This device converts your computer's monitor output to a TV output, and it works GREAT for viewing things you would normally view on a TV. Movies, videos, DVDs... motion pictures, that is what this converter is perfect for. It is not good at rendering text, and is NOT A REPLACEMENT FOR YOUR REGULAR MONITOR because of that. For some technological reason beyond my concern, small computer text (like what you are reading here) is grainy on the TV screen and unreadable by my 50 year old eyes. Perhaps if the font was more than 50, then it would be readable, but that's not what I got this nifty box for, so "no problem" for me.I displayed a PowerPoint presentation and although some text was readable, the smaller the font the less readable is was... best to stick with a projector than to try using this device on the cheap.I bought this device to push Netflix and my recorded TiVo (DVR) shows from my 14 inch laptop screen to my old fashion (2003) 27 inch Phillips TV. My TV has s-video, and component inputs, but not HDMI or VGA plugs. It was a great TV in 2003, but now in 2013 the only way I can watch anything on it is to use my cable set top box (it's an analog TV not digital/DTV).This converter measures around 4 inches by 2 inches and 1 inch thick. It comes with all the cables you need. The instruction manual is 10 pages long, and only illustrates how to connect things, and names the symbols. One EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THING not mentioned in the manual is that YOU HAVE TO USE THE VGA CABLE SUPPLIED with the device or you will just see colored bars on the TV instead of your computer display. I discovered this when I tried using a generic VGA cable I had. The supplied cable is only 3 feet long, but I have an extension cable (male on one end, female on the other) so I used it with the supplied one and everything works as normal. Apparently there is some special configuration within their cable.Users will have to connect the audio/sound from their computer to the TV independent of this device because there are not audio ports on it. If you prefer to listen to sound from the TV or your stereo then you'll have to set that up independently.Very nice display on the TV from my laptop, no complaints. I recommend this device over others as it works great, and the price I paid was reasonable. There are cheaper devices on the market, but after searching for weeks and weeks I found this one to have enough good reviews on other web sites to give it a try, and to my delight IT WORKS!

I needed to connect a VGA to the HDTV, PRESARIO to PANASONIC If you have a 500. laptop with hd outputs yes there is another alternative, but if your a school student, father, trying to keep up with technology to impress the kids, this is the ticket. I just got a couple of CQ56-129NR computer 320gb for 400 a piece and two Panasonic TV Plasma 46 and 50 inch for 650 a piece and only had VGA output. Ordered a cable and didn't work What to do! I happened upon this from advice, 60 dollars and it started before I could catch my breath. I went from VGA to the box, and out to the VCR so I can still enjoy a little recording now and then, out of the output of VCR and into the plasma and WOW, with a remote also, USB powered, JUST REMEMBER TO CK THE BATTERY IN THE BOX, OURS WAS DEAD, TAKES A WATCH BATTERY, CHEAP IN BULK, and if your going straight to TV you'll be impressed, just install an add on use mozilla get page zoom tool bar and set computer on 120% instead 100 and you will be able to read it beautifully....hope this helps some one in need...buying another on PAYDAY for the other computer ALSO DONOT FORGET THE WIRELESS KEYBOARD SO YOU CAN PUT A DUST COVER ON THE LAPTOP AND SIT IN THE CHAIR , USE THE MOUSE, AND SURF AND TYPE AWAY AT THE LADIES...haha
