More than enough reliable power

I bought this for a new build in August, 2022. I am running a 12th Gen I9, 64GB Ram, GIGABYTE Z690 AORUS Ultra Motherboard, AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT CORE Gaming Graphics Card, ASUS TUF Gaming LC 240 ARGB All-in-one Liquid CPU Cooler, 3-SSD's and 2-WD Hard Drives housed in a Cooler Master HAF XB EVO Case. The system is used to process raw pictures and video. The computer runs quiet and cool with out any power issues. This review was made on 5-5-23So far, so good and strongly recommended although the price seems to have almost doubled since I bought it.

High Quality Power Supply

Not much to say. Preforms as stated on my testing. This is a top of the line power supply with platinum rating. If you have the budget you should not skimp out on your PSU

Fantastic PSU - Worth every penny

Let me first start off by saying I’ve been building computers for 2 decades. I have experience with this stuff. One major rule of building? Don’t get a cheap heart. PSU = Heart of your build.Things I consider when buying PSUs? Quality, Longevity, Rating, Noise. You cannot go wrong with EVGA components ever. These is a brand that does NOT cheap out, but in return you pay a premium. Is the premium worth it for all their products? Debatable. Is it worth it for PSUs? 100%.This thing is small (140), packs a punch at 850w, and is rated for 80+ platinum. It’s also fully modular, and is future proofed. It can run modern day cards without needing to daisy chain your PCIE 6+2 cables (comes with 4 cables and has 4 individual PCIE/VGA power slots. Currently running an MSI RTX 4080 Trio X and an i7-12700k and have zero issues. The cables that come with it are high quality and have a decent amount of play, not too stiff, meaning you can run them through your case easily. They are also decently long and gave me zero issues with my Hyte Y60 case.Last plus? No noise. This thing has no noise or that sometimes annoying PSU slight chemical smell. The ONLY thing I will tell you to do, is flip the eco mode button on the back to “Off”. Eco mode isn’t reliable with power management on ANY PSU.Enjoy it. Don’t buy garbage, buy this.

Good internals, abysmal fan profile, potential coil whine with modern CPUs

I've had this PSU for close to a year and I haven't encountered any alarming issues with it. It's doing what I need it to do. The unit itself is also built like a tank. Also 10 year RMA is pretty nice. Sadly that's all the praise I can give it.The 750 and 850 models of this unit have terrible fans. They are *loud*. Tomshardware reports that the loudest was around 36 decibels and I find that accurate. If my room is completely silent, I can hear the PSU fan over all the other fans in my PC even 4-5 feet away. I have a box fan going in my room at almost all times and I wear good headphones so luckily I can't hear it at all times. The noise also isn't the fan spinning fast. I keep eco mode off and it sounds like the fan is making a high-pitched whirring. Cheap bearings is what I'm assuming as I've seen multiple cases of the same exact sound on other 750/850 P2s. The fan will also rattle and click-clack occasionally. I've found that putting light pressure on the PSU fan grate is enough to stop the rattling and it only happens every now and then. I'm 99.9% positive it's the fan because turning eco mode on completely eliminates all noise. I've noticed the fan is louder the lower the RPM so it's loudest when idle.Unfortunately, I cannot keep eco mode on because the fan controller is terrible and doesn't turn the fan on fast enough when needed. If you're a gamer, keep eco mode off so the fan stays on at all times otherwise your system will shut down constantly when under heavy load. The P2's heat protection is triggered before the fan can kick on. I wish I had done more research so that I'd know that the 650 P2 has a better fan. I have no idea why EVGA would ruin the 750/850 fan when the 650's fan is apparently perfectly fine.I've also noticed that my unit has coil whine but only when my Ryzen 5 3600 is boosting. It's only a theory but I'm guessing this is similar to older PSU models having coil whine with modern GPUs.I really really don't understand the logic of getting one of the best OEMs out there (Superflower) to make a REALLY GOOD power supply unit only to go with the cheapest possible option on the fan. You potentially have a unit that can last a decade but it will barely last a year because of the cheap fan. This can't be a "force people to buy more PSUs" exploit because they'll just use the 10 year RMA. This level of oversight is baffling. If you really need a unit like this I would say try out the 650 variant or grab the newer G6.
