These work as well or better than sand. They are MUCH easier to deal with if/when they need replacement.I initially tried these on a pool that I intended to decomission and fill in. I replaced about 300# of sand with an appropriate quantity of Filterballs. Checking with my filter manufacturer (Hayward) they saw no reason to use gravel to support the laterals. Well... a few seasons in, and the laterals were crushed by the internal pressure. I changed them out and installed pea gravel and new filterballs and it has been working ok. Your mileage may vary, but I definitely needed the gravel.One other cautionary tale, under NO circumstances should you use any shock powder containing calcium. NO "cal-hypo" or anything remotely similar. You will NEVER clear the pool, it will pass through back to the water and WILL clog the filterballs with a slimy calcium/wet plaster substance and will require replacement of your filterballs and your pool water .Other than those items, every day operation works great.

I can't explain in words how tired I was buying chemicals, spending money and my pool always turned green. This product changed everything and for that reason I want to recommend it. Just try by yourself and I’m sure you will understand me.

These were replacing old filter balls that lasted little under 3 years. The return flow was slower and with new filter balls all is back to normal.

These filter the water better than sand and with lower pressure on the pump.

I bought them June 2022, post pollen season coastal SC and they have been great. This year we had the normal heavy pollen and the balls do not appear able to adequately trap pollen. I backwash and get a bit of off color water, but the pool is solid yellow. I put a cloth skimmer bag in and it cakes up with yellow pollen. Tried running the pump at low speed still really yellow. Am I going to have to wait until post-pollen and then replace the water to get it clear?

I've used these before n they're amazing n very light. Y bother with heavy sand that can return through yr pool jets. We removed the old balls that were 7 yrs old n they were still in great condition but dirty. Probably would have just cleaned the old balls if I had known they were in great condition. We added the new set n it brought my neglected pool back to life! Each bag represents a100 pd bag of sand. Just be sure u get the Filter Balls Blu n not a knock off product!

We had a sand filter and had ongoing problems with it constantly so I decided to try these and they cleared up my water faster than my sand filter ever did. My only con so far is that I can’t run my pump on high because it will shoot the balls into my salt cell, I’m not sure if that’s a bad thing or not but I will call and find out. I would also recommend taking them out every year and cleaning them and store them until you open the pool for the next summer. Customer service is also very helpful when you call them.
