Has no effect but good at staining my carpet
This hasn't made one iota of difference to my discoloured teeth and I have to keep on checking we are all talking about the same product.. Sure they felt cleaner after brushing but if I brush for that length of time with any or no product at all, then they are going to feel cleaner. Upon first opening I managed to spill powder all over my tiling, grout and carpet and my carpet and grout corners are now stained in black.The whole ritual takes more than 15 minutes and half of that is the clean up. Make no mistake this stuff gets everywhere. Even brushing with my mouth 2 inches from the plug hole and as closed tight as it can be the black splashes everywhere. Charcoal dripping down my toothbrush, off my hands and getting all over the sink, taps, tiling etc. After 4-5 dips of the brush into the powder so lots of charcoal gets onto my teeth, it then takes several rinses and extensive (like a further 5-8 mins) flossing to remove all the black from inside my gums on my front teeth. Having finally got it all away and with gums that are sore from flossing I go to bed and realise there is still grit in my mouth and upon waking up its there again and my front teeth are covered in black and its the most disgusting fright I've ever seen of myself.

I researched which product to buy and went for this after reading other reviews. It did name some difference but not massively and makes a big mess in the sink or if you happen to drop some of the powder on the side. My husband refuses to use it because of the clear up after. I went on to buy the crest whitening strips which work more effectively although are much more expensive.

Ok for surface stains
I thought people were being daft going on about the mess, but it is quite tedious having to clean your sink after each use. For the first couple of days I thought I could see it making a difference to my teeth, but after 2 weeks I’m not so sure. I think it is probably good on surface stains, but as regards the overall colours of your teeth it won’t make them whiter. I will persevere but I’m not massively hopeful.

I have only been using this product for a week but after only several uses I noticed that my teeth looked cleaner and less stained. I drink a lot of tea! It's not a miracle-worker: it will not make your teeth whiter than white. The activated charcoal removes stains and restores teeth to their natural colour - which is probably not pure white!I use an old electric toothbrush head for cleaning my teeth with this charcoal as it does turn the bristles grey.It's not that messy if you brush your teeth with your mouth closed and spit very carefully with your head down low to the basin. Rinse your mouth thoroughly.To use: wet your toothbrush, shake off the excess water and dip the bristles into the pot of charcoal. Tap off excess powder. Get brushing and see results in 2 to 3 days. This pot will probably last me a year.

Messily effective.
Effective stuff, but best to use a manual toothbrush, as black droplets of wet soot fly in all directions when using the electric one. Tastes better than scraping the sides of the fireplace (which my parents & their predecessors frequently did for their toothpaste). By the time you've removed most of the visible blackness from your mouth, your teeth & gums are definitely clean and less stained.

Do not brush!
It does remove yellow stains from tea and coffee but it certainly does not whiten. Use a black toothbrush, wet it, dab it on your teeth and leave it for a minute or two then rinse. A lot of reviews talk about how messy it gets, it is but it shouldn't if you keep your mouth firmly shut while swishing it.

I bought this product for my daughter who had been carrying out some research about charcoal teeth whitening powders. She used it and sent me the before and after pictures, the difference of a definite whiter smile was clear. My daughter did say at the time that face to face she hasn't noticed the difference however in photos her teeth shows up much whiter.
